Wang Yimei is Injured

May 23rd UPDATE:

It’s been almost 3 weeks since her surgery and it appears that she’s showing signs of recovery from looking at these pics:

We’re glad to see these pics. It appears she’s very determined to heal in time for the 2012 Olympics which is 64 days away.

On the other hand, we still don’t think she would be 100% ok to play in London. We’re not being pessimistic here but we’re just being realistic. If she won’t heal in time, then her absence would affect China’s chances of winning the gold.

As a side note, her story reminds us of her former teammate Zhao Ruirui (remember her?). One of the best middle players in the early 2000s who had knee problems and eventually had surgery to fix the problem. She was declared OK to play at the 2004 Olympics but didn’t even last a set when China played against USA. Zhao left the competition but returned on the gold medal podium with her outstanding teammates.

Anyways, we send positive vibes as Wang recovers.

By the way, Lang Ping visited her.

FIRST LOOK @ WANG YIMEI!

She looks like she’s in great spirits after the after the surgery. Plus, her former teammate and 2004 Olympic gold medalist Feng Kun paid a visit to see how she’s doing.

Awwwww how sweet of Feng!

Definitely not the kind of news we want to hear and post knowing the Olympics is just 85 days away.

Ugh!

Chinese outside hitter, Wang Yimei, twisted her right ankle at practice a few days ago. The unfortunate incident resulted to a ligament tear.

The good news?

A successful surgery was completed earlier today in Beijing.

The recovery time? 6-8 weeks.

Sadly, we don’t think she has enough time to fully recover but at the same time we are optimistic that the medical staff will do what it takes to send her to London. Knowing that she’s one of China’s reliable scorers, it’d be devastating if she won’t play in London.

On the other hand, Coach Yu Juemin theoretically believes that Wang will be in London.

As for Wang’s fans, start crossing your fingers, nails and ponytails for your idol.

Bottom line is China needs her!

Have a speedy recovery Wang!
