We’re still NOT convinced that Wang Yimei is fit and ready to play.
The last 100 days or so have been very challenging for outside hitter and 2008 Olympic Bronze Medalist Wang Yimei. She injured her ankle last May while training for the 2012 season. Sadly, surgery was required to treat the problem. Everyone had doubts if Wang would have enough time to recover for the 2012 Olympics. Intensive physical training and Wang’s determination to surpass the trial were enough for her to make it on the Olympic roster. But is she 100% OK to play?
“Generally speaking, my foot is good, and I will go all out at the Games.” according to the 24 year old.
Glad to hear she’s going to do her best but again we have doubts if she’s healthy enough. It would be very tough for China to advance to the next round without Wang. Take note, China is in the toughest pool with USA, Brazil, Serbia, Turkey and Korea.
The following 12 athletes will represent China at the 2012 Olympics in London:
Setters: Wei Qiuyue, Mi Yang
Outside Hitters:Wang Yime, Hui Ruoqi, Chu Jingling
Middle Blockers:Yang Junjing, Ma Yunwen, Xu Yunli
Opposite Hitters:Zhang Lei, Zeng Chunlei
Liberos:Zhang Xian, Shan Danna
The other players expected to lead are outside hitter Hui Ruoqi. midde blockers Yang Junjing & Ma Yunwen (2008 Olympic bronze medalist) and setter/captain Wei Qiuyue, who was sidelined during the 2012 Grand Prix due to an injury.
