A few weeks ago, it was announced that female beach volleyball players to compete at the London Olympics don’t have to wear TV-friendly bikinis anymore.
FIVB spokesman Richard Baker’s statement released to The Associated Press:
“Many of these countries have religious and cultural requirements, so the uniform needed to be more flexible.”
On the other hand, FIVB Hero Kerri Walsh has decided that she’d still don her two-piece bathing suit this season and at the upcoming Olympics with her partner Misty May Treanor. The 2 time Olympic gold medalist and definitely one of the most iconic beach volleyball players in the last decade says:
”It’s something I really feel comfortable with. It’s something I feel empowered by, not distracted with. I’m not a sex symbol; I’m an athlete. I want to be streamlined out there.”
Watch This:
”To each his own. If you get down to it, it’s about the sport and not what we’re wearing. So it’s fine, whatever anybody feels comfortable with.” according to the mother of 2 who is married to beach player Casey Jennings.
We totally agree with you Kerri!
We can only hope no one would wear a pair of jeans or denim in London.
Hah!
