There’s light at the end of the tunnel…
The 2011 Manhattan Beach Open Tournament has found new sponsors and the deal was signed and sealed last week by city officials. The 2 new sponsors are USA Volleyball, the sport’s national governing body, and IMG Action Sports, a multinational marketing firm. That’s Great!
With a proposed $200,000 player prize money, we’re sure the beach players are very excited to play and make some cash.
Some of them had to start looking for a real job after the AVP bit the dust last year. With USAV and IMG Action Sports taking over, they can now return to the sand to practice , to compete and hopefully win.

The 2 major major sponsors will also reimburse the city of Manhattan Beach for tournament related expenses.
So mark your calendars boys and girls, the tourney will be held in August.
