We were very shocked when we heard about her stroke last December 3rd, 2009. We though it was a minor stroke but it was actually very serious! Natalia Safronova fell into a coma and it took her a while to show signs of recovery. She spent most of her time in Cologne, Germany before returning to Russia.
According to VlDinamo.ru, Natalia is learning how to talk again and she’s starting to pronounce words. She’s seen by a physical therapist on a regular basis and she even has homework for each session, like inserting or sewing buttons.
The best sign of her recovery is that she can SMILE again.
Gamova gave Natalia PENCILS during her first visit. Her Russian teammates as well have participated in an auction for her hospital bills which raised almost 400,000 Rubles ($13,000+ USD). Lioubov Sokolova’s jersey sold for 60,000 rubles and Tatiana Kosheleva’s sold for the same amount. Other jerseys sold were Gamova’s for 37,100R, liberos Kruchkova for 35,100R and Alexei Verbov for 20,100R.
