After 26 years, The Rating System in the Brazilian Men’s Superliga will NO longer be applied starting in the 2018-2019 season.
The decision was made after all the 10 men’s club teams VOTED to end it according to Globo Esporte.
In case you didn’t know, The Rating System was introduced during the 1992-1993 season by the Brazilian Federation. The main purpose of the system was to give all teams an equal chance of recruiting players. Some of the best players would end up being rated as “7” players and each team could only have a maximum of 2 “7” rated players.
The same rule applies to the women’s league BUT the league will continue using The Rating System due to a lack of votes to end it.
