During their semifinal match, Matey was not able to keep calm against Bruno Rezende who may have said something across the net after Matey’s teammate, Tine Urnaut, blocked Vettori.

Bruno always gets into fights and arguments almost all the time when he’s playing.

The drama didn’t stop there by the way.

During the incident a Modena fan THREW something at Matey and that was when he just went cray cray (crazy).

Matey Apologizes

Kaziyski has released this statement via his club team, Trentino, and clearly points out that Bruno and his dirty mouth started it all. When a fan threw something at him, he just couldnt’s stay calm anymore.

“Sottorete sono volate parole poco piacevoli, con Bruno che ha provocato più volte la nostra squadra con espressioni davvero pesanti; ho detto sia a lui sia al primo arbitro che non potevamo più tollerarle. Tutto è nato da lì, ma al di là di ciò vorrei scusarmi per il gesto che ho effettuato uscendo dal campo; ci tengo a precisare che non era rivolto al pubblico ma solamente alla persona che mi aveva lanciato addosso proprio in quel momento un oggetto dalla tribuna. Non cerco giustificazioni perché sicuramente non possono essercene, ma la situazione creatasi in quella circostanza mi ha fatto perdere lucidità e di questo me ne faccio una colpa. Sono il primo a sapere che la reazione alle provocazioni non trova mai scuse e che noi giocatori dovremmo essere superiori a queste cose. Per questo motivo mi scuso col pubblico di Modena e più in generale con l’intero movimento pallavolistico. Mi auguro che, già a partire da oggi, si possa tornare a parlare solo di pallavolo giocata e nello specifico di gara 4, che sono sicuro sarà un grande spettacolo all’insegna dello sport e della correttezza”.

“Everything started from the moment when I exchanged a few unpleasant words with Bruno Rezende. I told the main referee that my team could no longer tolerate Bruno’s behavior. However, I could not use the incident as an excuse for the inappropriate gesture I did as I was leaving the court. It was not addressed to the fans of Modena but to the spectator who threw something towards me which made me losy my temper.

I hope that starting today, we will all go back to only be talking about volleyball.”

Thank you Matey for taking the high road and for taking time to apologize. We wonder if Rezende will ever say sorry as well as Reid Priddy, Micah Christenson, Luciano De Cecco and Aleksandar Atanasijevic who got into a fight in another match.
