Is she really on a strike?
YES!
The Queen of Italian Volleyball is getting media attention again after she decided not to play yesterday for her club team, Duck Farm Duck Farm, during an important playoff match.
What did she exactly do?
Girlfriend just watched the match and became a spectator for a day.
The consequence?
Her team lost to Bergamo (ironically her old team) in a 4 set match. If her team loses again, she’d definitely get the blame. Hah! Just Kidding!
So what’s going on?
Rumor has it that her team’s top sponsor, Duck Farm, has NOT paid her and her teammates. The sponsor owes them big time and obviously fails to fulfill its financial obligations.
Sad! We hope the team won’t shut down knowing that the season is almost over.
As of press time, no word yet if Picci will rejoin her team on April 19th.
Side Dish: Italian libero Paola Croce is also on a strike and has left her Italian club team Urbino after the team failed to pay her wages. Source says Urbino only managed to pay Paola 10% of her promised salary. The team’s management plans to take legal actions versus Croce stating that she’s in violation of her contact.
With all these financial troubles in the Italian League, we wonder how next season would look like!
Sad.
