The daddy-to-be Cristian Savani can finally play again!
Months since that forgettable injury at practice, Lube Macerata’s outside hitter is taking it slow and is expected to play in the Italian League and Champions League in the next few weeks.
Savani says:
“I can finally play along my teammates. I still have to put my ankle to the test but I trained yesterday and it went rather well, I am confident. Obviously, that’s only a first step, I cannot expect to be 100% right away. But I am extremely happy to be part of the team again.”
So Happy! We must admit that Macerata is not the same without him.
UPDATE: Savani’s teammate, Jiri Kovar, is still recovering.

Cristian and Jiri are back to work!
The injured players of Lube Macaerate are back in the gym to remain in shape as they recover.

After 5 days, Cristian Savani was released from the hospital yesterday morning. Cristian’s road to recovery will be closely monitored by his club team’s medical staff. He is scheduled to start rehabilitation therapy in 5 days.

After losing Jiri Kovar due to a torn ACL, club team Lube Macerata suffers another blow with Savani’s injury.
Italian team Cucine Lube Banca Marche Macerata has officially announced that Cristian Savani is suffering from an injury after spraining his left ankle at practice earlier today.
The injury is reportedly serious.
“The player is transported to the Civil Hospital in Macerata for the medical examinations. He was immediately subjected to a CT scan, which fortunately excluded bone fractures. The injury required a surgical intervention which has already been made at the Department of Orthopaedics in Macerata.” according to a statement released by Macerata.
Savani, whose going to be a father for the very first time next year, has been one of Macerata’s reliable and efficient player on the court.
Jiri Kovar Update
Soeaking of injury, Cristian’s club teammate, Jiri Kovar, is now recovering after a successful knee surgery the other day in Bologna. The outside hitter tore his ACL (anterior cruciate ligament) during a friendly match played at the indoor stadium versus Perugia last October 11th.
Kovar will now have a few days of rest and then will start the rehabilitation work that will be done entirely in Italy with the technical staff and doctors of AS Volley Lube.
