Vakifbank is forming a DREAM TEAM indeed.
The Bulgarian scoring machine has officially joined Turkish club team Vakifbank for the 2014/2015 season. Elitsa is now in the same club as 2 time Olympic Champion Sheilla Castro (Brazil), 2011 European Champion and world class Serbian middle blocker Milena Rasic, Netherlands’ 2013 female volleyball player of the year Robin de Kruijf and 2011 World Cup gold medalist and MVP Carolina Costagrande (Italia).
Vakifbank also has Turkish talents Sonsirma Gozde and Naz Aydemir.
Eli says…
“Being here is really beautiful. Obviously, I still cannot believe that I will stay in Istanbul for an entire season. I don’t know what else to say except it’s a dream come true!”
In case you didn’t know, Eli played in the Korean last season where she scored a RECORD BREAKING 57 POINTS. This achievement makes her the world record holder for a female player with the MOST points scored in one match.
The title previously belonged to American opposite hitter Nicole Fawcett.
With such amazing players, we wonder how Coach Guidetti will determine his starting 6 for the Turkish League and Champions League.
