With another baby on the way, we believe it’s a smart decision to stay in Turkey with his family.
Serbia’s Volleyball superstar Ivan Miljkovic will spend another season with Turkey’s heavyweight Fenerbahce Grundig ISTANBUL and this way will also return to compete in Europe’s elite club competition, the CEV DenizBank Volleyball Champions League. Miljkovic, who has been with Fenerbahce since 2010, has signed a one-year contract, the club announced. This means Miljkovic already joined on Monday the group of players that just started their preparations for the 2014/2015 season (see picture).
Fenerbahce has also announced the transfer of German middle-blocker Marcus Böhme. A former champion of the CEV Volleyball European League, two-time national champion and winner of the German Cup, Böhme is one of the most significant additions to the roster of “Fener” for the coming season. Böhme had spent the last season in his home country with Generali UNTERHACHING, a team that has since withdrawn from the Bundesliga due to financial difficulties. He is a two-time Olympian for Germany – in 2008 and 2012 – and has a record of 166 international caps with Germany’s national team.
After winning the 2014 edition of the CEV Volleyball Challenge Cup, Fenerbahce Grundig ISTANBUL is set to return to the unique stage of the CEV DenizBank Volleyball Champions League this year. The Turks were drawn in a “group of death” including Italy’s champions Cucine Lube TREIA, Russia’s club world champions and 2014 CL winners Belogorie BELGOROD and the winners of the 2014 CEV Volleyball Cup, France’s PARIS Volley.
The women’s team, on the other hand, will be joined by USA’s Kristin Richards Hildebrand. The wing-spiker spent the last season in Campinas, Brazil but is now returning to Europe to help Fenerbahce ISTANBUL in their upcoming campaign in the 2015 CEV DenizBank Volleyball Champions League. The 29-year old is a winner of the 2012 FIVB World Grand Prix with the USA national team and that same year she won gold also at the Pan American Cup where she received the award for the Most Valuable Player of the competition. Last year she went on to win gold at the NORCECA Championships and silver at the FIVB World Grand Champions Cup in Japan.
Fenerbahce has also prolonged the contract with their setter Elif Öner Agca, who has been with the team already since the 2012 season.
