Honestly, we don’t know much about University of Washington’s BECKY PERRY. We just know she’s a talented outside hitter who is on her senior year and wants to help the Huskies win another NCAA title since 2005.
We got to know more about Becky after reading THIS or THIS.
Becky’s sister, Tiffanie Perry, was a victim of a September murder-suicide at the hands of her ex-boyfriend, mixed-martial-arts fighter Kenneth Bryan Trevino. Becky Perry flew to her hometown (Austin, Texas) shortly after the tragedy but hasn’t been back since.
From the article, Perry has shared the following words:
“Being up here has been different,” she said Thursday. “I’ve had nights when I don’t sleep and times when I’ve cried, but mostly I’ve suppressed that. It’s been easier to do that because this lifestyle didn’t involve her — she lived down in Texas. That’s why it’s going to hit like a ton of bricks when I go home, because that lifestyle involved her.”
In many ways, volleyball has always been therapeutic for Perry. That’s never been more the case than this season.
“It’s an outlet for me,” she said as her Huskies prepared to host third-ranked Nebraska in the round of 16. “I don’t think about anything else other than volleyball when I’m on the court. So in that way, it’s kind of an escape for me.”
That’s part of the reason why leaving the team was never an option. Even though these have been the most difficult months of Perry’s life, she wasn’t going to give up on volleyball.
“There have definitely been mornings when I wake up, and it’s hard,” she said. “Sometimes I think: What is keeping me going? How am I getting this much energy? Because there are times when I’m really tired. I don’t sleep a lot.
“But at the end of the day, I have a strong faith. And I’m doing it because (Tiffanie) can’t. I would never forgive myself, and she would never forgive me, if I didn’t keep doing this.”
Becky plans to train with the USA National Team and plans on playing professional volleyball and in the Olympics someday. She’s one brave girl! We <3 her!
