Watch, read and learn these valuable tips from 2016 Olympic bronze medalist Kawika Shoji:
So a lot of people ask Micah and I about setter footwork. It’s really important to be open to the reception in a ready position so that we are able to move quickly and efficiently.
When you recognize where the ball is, we have to use our steps quickly to get to the ball so that we are able to contact the ball in the same spot as consistently as possible.
We like to jump powerfully off of the ground and use this floor as leverage. Setting starts from the floor up, and when our feet are good, our hands follow. When we are under the ball, it’s all about being rhythmic and aggressive.
We want to calmly jump into the ball and aggressively follow through to our target.
Thank for you Kawika!
