Slow To Fast
There are so many things that go into spiking a volleyball.
Non-volleyball players think that spiking a volleyball is so easy until they try it. You have the approach, contact point, wrist snap and about 10 other things that are involved which most people have no clue about. Pretty much anyone with a little practice can spike but without the most power possible.
If you want to spike the ball as hard as you can it involves how slow to fast and dynamic your approach is and how fast you can torque your core to get the most out of your arm swing.
The more explosive you can be with your approach, specifically your step close, the more power you will generate into the ball which will ultimately allow you to spike the ball harder. One important thing that goes with that is making sure you stay behind the ball and keeping the contact point in front of you so you have the most angles possible.
The more you can practice your approach, going slow to fast, exploding into the ball will change how hard you attack the ball immediately. Remember, it takes tons of practice and won’t happen overnight but if you are struggling with getting power on the ball, then stay behind it and explode into it.
You determine how hard you hit the ball so make sure you use all your power in your legs and hit it high and hard!!!
