This tip totally reminds us of when Brazilian player Mari took most of the blame when Brazil lost to Russia in the semifinal match at the 2004 Athens Olympics.
Brazil was up 24-19 and was just one point away from advancing to the gold medal match then all of a sudden Mari made some crucial errors. During the 5th set, Mari hit it out and was spotted crying.
From what we know, she took some time away from volleyball in Brazil and went overseas. During the 2008 Olympics, Mari was in great shape to lead Brazil to its first ever Olympic gold.
This is the match we’re talking about:
The Blame Game
What a wonderful game volleyball is when everything is going perfect.
What a tough game volleyball is when you are losing and people start to blame each other, the coaches and ultimately the referees.
We have all been there, seen or heard someone blame one another or yourself.
The hardest thing to do in life is to look deep down inside and blame yourself. I get it, we as humans have too much pride to blame ourselves and it’s much easier to blame someone else for the mistakes or losses.
The set was too far outside, that serve was too good or the tip was closer to you than me are some of the more common reasons to blame everything else but your own faults.
Imagine if all the players on a team were so unselfish that they took the blame themselves instead of blaming others.
Blaming others will not make your team win, it will do exactly the opposite.
Be a positive and unselfish teammate, talking with your actions instead of your words. When you can do that, you will not only be a good volleyball player and teammate but a good human being as well.
Make a difference on your team and the team will succeed because of it!
