We don’t know her but her story has inspired us…
Lake-Sumter Community College’s volleyball coach Rachel Bruce from Leesburg, Florida was diagnosed a rare and aggressive form of cervical cancer last November 18th and underwent radical surgery, weeks of chemotherapy and radiation treatments.
“I just sat on the side of the road and cried for a couple of hours until I could get it together.” said Rachel after getting the phone call from her doctor.
BUT despite losing her hair and the suffering from multiple rounds of chemotherapy, Rachel promises to continue the fight. She evens plan on returning to her coaching position in the Fall.
“Going through this made me realize just how short life is and how important is to spend quality time with your family.” she said.
Rachel’s husband and friends remain on her side to support her and they also organize fundraisers for her medical expenses. Just recently they raised more than $14,000 from the Run For Rachel fundraising event last May.
