Libero Dennis Del Valle Shares Maria Aftermath

Puerto Rico is still suffering a humanitarian crisis more than a week after hurricane Maria.

We reached out to one of the players of the national team, Dennis Del Valle, to share some updates on this is what he said.

“Everyone is safe for now but still no one knows anything about my older sister since last Tuesday. It’s a living nightmare. Desperation, frustration, lack of food and water for some people. 5 hours to get gas and it’s insane. It’s surreal. Like a episode of The Walking Dead without the zombies. It’s crazy out there.”

The libero also shared a few days ago that the national team has canceled their plans to compete at the NORCECA Championship in Colorado Springs due to Maria’s aftermath. Cuba also withdrew from the tournament.

Denis adds that he and his family are waiting for an update about their sister.

“Everyone is waiting to hear some news about my sister. Her town got damaged hard and communication it’s slim to none.”

He is also unsure if he can fly out of the country to join his club team in Switzerland early next week.
