Congratulations to one of the most inspiring players our generation has ever seen!
Bravo Jack!
Another chapter of Jack Sintini’s wonderful story has been written and this time in the true sense of the world!
Trentino setter has proudly announced that he is releasing an autobiography called “Forza E Coraggio” (“Come On! Never Give Up!”). The book is based on his life and his battle against cancer. It will be published by a very famous Italian publishing company and will be available starting next week.
I had the chance to speak with Jack who is very proud and excited about his upcoming tome.
“The idea is quite simple, to be honest. I received a call from the publishing house immediately after the Italian Championship (2012/2013). I could not decline the opportunity because several people have suggested to put my life in writing. I always tell my experience with pleasure because I’m sure it can be helpful to a lot of people. My book wants to give hope to those who face moments of pain and humiliation. It will also help my association and I as we try to expand our mission to help.”
How does it feel like to inspire others with your own book?
“Honestly, I don’t know how to feel since everything is new for me in the publishing world. During the writing process, I totally opened my soul because I believe that if you have something to say, you have to say it well and with no omissions. If my book helps even only one person fighting against a tough problem, it’d still be worth it!”
I almost believed that I would survive during my fight against cancer more than a year ago but now I am an Italian champion because of the strength I found in me.
I don’t want to be dramatic but I always tell those battling cancer to never lose hope and the will to fight the disease because the sun will shine again in your life. I saw the sun, I kept on fighting and I did it.”
The MVP of the 2012/2013 Italian Championship dreams on releasing his autobiography in English one day.
Volleyball fans are counting the days as next Tuesday they finally will have the opportunity to buy the book written by Diatec TRENTINO setter Giacomo Sintini together with Francesca Parravicini.
The duo has pulled together 204 pages to recount the story of the 35-year old Volleyball player who in about two years was able to beat cancer and return to competitive sport. His amazing comeback was crowned last May as he anchored Diatec TRENTINO to their third title in the national league beating Copra Elior PIACENZA in the last round of a dramatic and exciting Championship series.
That story could well turn into the plot of a Hollywood movie but Giacomo’s main goal with this book is to bring some hope to all those who are battling with cancer and also to thank the people who supported him: his family, the medical staff and also his many friends in Volleyball with whom he was very much looking forward to joining forces again for, as he wrote, “this is my world and I simply can’t stay without it.”
The book is due to come out next Tuesday, January 21.
Sintini is a 2005 European champion and a bronze medallist from the FIVB World Grand Champions Cup held that same year in Japan. He also is a double national champion (2006 and 2013), winner of the national cup (2013), and a gold medallist from the 2012 FIVB Club World Championship.
