Volleyball Grandparents are the BEST!
In this article released by the FIVB, Brazilian volleyball superstar Sheilla Castro shares that she mainly dedicates all her volleyball awards to her Avó (Grandmother).
Sheilla says..
“I was raised by my grandmother Therese, since I was three years old. My mother worked and grandmother did not like to leave me with the babysitter. Me and my younger brother Victor ended up moving in with her.”
The article also mentions that before the start of every match, Sheilla calls her Grandma Therese.
Sheilla’s FIRST Instagram post is a pic of her with grandma:
Knowing that Sheilla is moving to Turkey next season to play with Vakifbank, no doubt she and grandma will have plenty of Skype dates.
May we also add than when asked on what makes her such a good volleyball player, the 2 time Olympic Champion says:
“Volleyball is my life. I am a happy player and love key moments.”
She also believes that sport is an excellent educational and social tool.
