She was just one step away from winning the 2012 Miss USA crown!
Regardless of the result, we’re still very happy & very proud for what Miss Maryland Nana Meriwether has achieved at last night’s Miss USA held in Las Vegas. Nevada. Even if she was named first runner-up, she’s still a winner to us and definitely one of the most gorgeous women who has excelled in the world of tiaras and volleyballs.
During the Question and Answer portion, the stunning 27 year old Meriwether who played volleyball in college for UCLA was asked by one of the Jonas Brothers, Joe Jonas.
Watch This:
In all fairness to Miss Maryland and eventual winner Miss Rhode Island, they both nailed the Q & A. On the other hand, we’re glad Miss Nevada knew and knows who the American Vice-President is. Hahah! Imagine if she answered Hilary Clinton? LOL! She scared us. We kid! We kid!
In case you didn’t know, Nana was a 2 time “NCAA All American & a holder of three national NCAA women’s volleyball records”. In 2006, Nana together American setter Nellie Spicer led UCLA to qualify for the NCAA Final 4. After graduating, she turned pro and played in Puerto Rico and also trained with the USA WNT in 2008.
Nana is more than just a pretty face, a long legged beauty who plans to go to medical school and a successful athlete. She also does charity work for an international nonprofit organization which she co-founded, The Meriwether Foundation. It operates in “five Southern African countries and seeks to support and sustain AIDS/HIV orphanages, schools, rural clinics, and community and agricultural projects”.
The 6-1 Meriwether is one of the millions of people who admires Angelina Jolie.
“I was born in a rural village in South Africa while my parents were donating eight years of pro bono medical and community work. I admire Angelina Jolie because she’s exposing her children to the way I grew up, and I really connect to the way she’s raising her kids to be more globally aware.”
She might not have won the crown to represent USA at the upcoming Miss Universe pageant, but in our hearts we know that tomorrow has bigger and brighter plans for Nana.
We wish you the best girlfriend!
