As we previously reported…
For the first time since 2005, Michal Winiarski, Mariusz Wlazly, Aleksandar Atanasijević and Team Skra Belchatow failed to qualify for the Final 4 of the Polish League aka Plusliga.
Skra managed to take the Playoff Series to a a 5th and deciding match against defending champs, Asseco Resovia. In the last match, Skra was down 2 sets but managed to come back and took the do-or-die match to a 5th set.
In the end, Match MVP Ignaczak, Jochen Schops and Team Resovia took the match (25:23, 25:20, 21:25, 15:25, 15:12).

Skra’s Aleksandar Atanasijević Speaks…
“We feel deep disappointment. We gave everything and showed character. In the tie-break we also fought bravely but unfortunately we lost. The match referees made a lot of mistakes against us, and in the tie-break is known that even one ball can make the difference on the outcome of the match. I do not know why judges behave so”.
Decisions of the judges were crucial to the outcome of the meeting?
“The action of the tie-break was very important. For us the judges’ decision was unbelievable”.
Your play in this last game, and the whole quarterfinals was really great.
“Now we feel great sadness primarily because there’s nothing we can do, and we were knocked out of competition for the Polish championship. Our disappointment is all the greater because we were really close to turn the tide of the quarter-finals. We were able to get back into the game despite the result 0-2 in matches and 0-2 in sets in the duel No. 3. We showed real strength of character, certainly we feel great sadness and disappointment but life goes on”.
PGE Skra Chairman Konrad Piechocki Is Disappointed.
