Moshi Moshi Dante!
The 2004 Olympic gold medalist is spreading his wings this season in Japan with Panasonic Panthers.
In a recent article released by the FIVB, the 33 year old outside hitter from Brazil shares how excited he is on this new journey.
Despite the language barrier and the culture, it looks like Dante will have a blast in The Land Of Rising Sun…
“I will be introduced in December and I am looking forward to it. I really want to get there and show my experience and my ways of playing the game. I have an interpreter who helps me a lot. When in court we look at each other and understand well. In volleyball the gestures are unique.”
The 2008 and 2012 Olympic silver medalist also hints on his upcoming retirement.
“It’s bad to say that I am nearing the end, but I’ll take my experience to this team so young and so eager to learn all that I have to pass. First I will try to pass them a little of my experience and then we will focus in reception, setting and attacking.”
As on why he chose to play in Japan…
“I was really impressed with the structure of the team they presented to me and that’s why accepted the challenge, but at the same time is an opportunity for me to grow more as a leader.”
As of press time. Dante and Panasonic are competing at the 2013 Club World Championship.
