3 time MVP? Osmany just made history!
We have a feeling that Travica and Savani would not want Juatorena to join the Italian Team even more! Hah! Those 2 just need to chill because (lets’ face it!) Juantorena is definitely the (other) world’s best outside hitter right now together with Brazil’s Murilo Endres!
In case you didn’t know…
For the 3rd consecutive time, the Cuban-turned-Italian Osmany Juantorena was awarded yesterday as the Most Valuable Player of the 2012 FIVB Club World Championship held in Doha, Qatar.
Os and Team Trentino Volley won the gold medal plus $250,000 against Brazil’s Sada Cruzeiro. Trentino has won the tournament since the club tournament was reintroduced to the volleyball world in 2009.
Anyways, the 3 time MVP has shared some humble words about his individual award:
“I am really glad for the title obtained by my team, above all the individual achievements. The Most Valuable Player awards is really something stimulating but the credit goes to the whole squad. The spectacular wing spiker was somehow surprised when his name was announced as the winner of the MVP for third year in a row.
“The truth is that I was not expecting to win it again. It just caught me off guard, but I am happy about winning again.
Each award has different taste,” responded Juantorena when he was asked about the meaning of winning for third consecutive time. There is always the first one. But this one I will never forget because it coincided with the fourth world championship title of our team. I will cherish it all my life because it came together with our fourth crown.
The reality is that the MVP was not me, but the whole team. Everyone put is grain of sand for the fourth crown.”
Very well said Os!
With all the success you’ve achieved, you really need to join the Italian Team and play with Travica and Savani. You might be the only HOPE for the team to win GOLD.
Hah!
Seriously, with rumors we’ve been hearing that Travica and Savani DO NOT want him on the team. We hope they give Os the chance.
Congrats to Osmany and Trento!
