Sheilla Castro Is Ready!

Brazil’s Golden Girl Sheilla Castro is ready for the Final Showdown in the Brazilian League!

The final match will be on Sunday, April 17th.

Sheilla, Jaqueline, Thaisa, Adenizia, Fernanda Garay, Camila Brait & Team Sollys Osasco will try to defend their crown against Sarah Pavan, Logan Tom, Juciely, Fofao, Valeskinha, Natalia and Team Unilever.

The opposite cannot contain her excitement and she already feels bees and butterflies in her stomach thinking of the biggest day in Brazilian volleyball.

“I wanted to reach the final of the competition in the best possible physical shape, I think I’m better because I’m more focused. Not only me, most of the players plays better in the playoffs. I try to help the girls at all times, in and out of court. We have a very mature group. Sometimes I help and sometimes they help me.”

At the age of 29, Sheilla’s success in the Superliga includes 2 championship titles and 3 runner-up finishes.

As for playing against her former team…

“I have friends in both teams, so nothing changes when we face the UNILEVER. I always got to win and so will be again. The teams have a huge rivalry. When it gets closer, the anxiety increases, the butterflies in my stomach grows. I try not to talk not to increase anxiety.”

She also adds that her boyfriend is one of her biggest supporters.

“My boyfriend is a basketball coach, so he understands. He has a lot to do to contain my anxiety.”

Awwwww what a sweet boyfriend!

Rumor has it, Sheilla and her man are planning to tie the knot this year.

Sheilla’s teammate and Olympic gold medalist, Fernanda Garay, shares her thoughts & how her team is preparing for the BIG day:

“I think that (favoritism) exists and can not be ignored. But it’s not an everyday thing, we can not stay focused and think that we have a responsibility and an obligation (to win). We think that we are capable, but we have a team on the other side that is working and training to overcome us. They have players who are used to playing decision matches and a coaching staff as competent as ours.

The first thing is to start training in the morning, since the game is in the morning and we will need to have this adaptation. Technically, the first week we train hard to improve what we have to improve, looking at our team. Later the focus will be on their team. I believe that Rio has extremely talented players that work well with their technical committee. In Osasco we also have great professionals supporting us.”
