Finally! This is the statement we’ve all been waiting for to move on from all the dramas at the Men’s World Champs last month in Italy. Brazil won the title for the 3rd time in a row but the champions were not spared from media scrutiny and were constantly criticized for purposely losing the match against Bulgaria to avoid a tougher pool going to the next round. Brazil escaped and found a way to win the GOLD!
We don’t want to go into further details about what happened but Bernardinho’s statement is the last vital ingredient to close this issue and move on.
This is what he said from an interview with “Alfa”, a Brazilian magazine:
“I wanted to apologize to the people. If you ask me if I’m proud, I say, ‘No way’. It goes against everything I ever preached, the principles that I believe.”
Very well said coach! Something short yet very sincere.
Apology accepted. Brazil won. Let’s move on…
