Don’t get us wrong we LOVE the women’s volleyball team of Japan! They are so full of life when they play! Their defense is fantastic! Our favorites are Takeshita the setter and Saori the outside hitter. We’ve followed Japan for more than 10 years now and we must admit their height is still a liability. Oh well…they beat Brazil and Italy in the Final Round of the 2010 Grand Prix.
“They will be tough games, although, we will do our best. I was mostly concerned with Kurihara’s knee but it has successfully recovered and her condition is getting better. We have been practicing with a team theme which is establishing originality, and players are building their confidence in beating strong teams such as Italy and Brazil. The growth of young players like Ebata and Sakoda are very significant and I look forward to seeing them play.”
Advancing to the next round will be VERY easy for the hosting team since they will play against Poland, Peru, Algeria, Costa Rica and Serbia in Pool A. We hope Japan will do well in this tournament since they haven’t won a medal in a long time. (Pool A appears to be the easiest pool.)
