Oh No! This can’t be! What a devastating news!
Italian outside hitter, Simone Parodi, suffered a serious injury during a league match against #1 ranked Trentino.
According to our source, Parodi hurt his left knee after hitting the ball. As soon as he landed, he started screaming in pain with his face covered. Just minutes later, his swollen knee started to look like the size of a melon.
Ouch!
With this injury, Simone is done for the rest of the season. The pre-diagnosis is a ruptured cruciate ligament and he will be taken to Turin for an MRI.
This is a really sad and tragic accident. The Italian League Playoffs is just around the corner and Parodi’s absence will deeply affect the #2 ranked Team Cunneo.
We don’t know yet how serious the injury is and the recovery time but we hope it won’t take that long. The international season kicks off next month and it’d be great to see Simone play for the Italian team knowing he has improved so much since the 2010 World Championship.
Get well soon Simone.
Side Dish: Cuneo lost the match to Trentino 2-3 (21-25 25-12 26-24 23-25 20-22). Team Trentino rested 2 of its stars, Matey Kaziyski and Osmany Juantorena.
