Leon & Sanchez Win Big!

MEN’s TOURNAMENT:

Is there any other Cuban player better than Leon? BB just keeps winning titles and MVPs.

Wilfredo Leon (MVP) & Fernando Hernandez (Best Scorer) helped Team Orientals defeated the Capitals 3-1 (26-24, 20-25, 25-22, 25-18) to win the 2010-2011 Cuban League. Leon’s outstanding performance proved too much to handle against the Capitals and avoided a 3rd match (Best 2 out of 3). The 2 teams previously met with the Orientals taking the match 3-0 (25-21, 25-17, 29-27).

Congrats Ladies! We have a feeling we are going to see a much stronger Cuban team this season with the young players getting a lot of exposure and building up their confidence.

Take note, the Cuban League is really short. According to THIS ARTICLE, the league started last February 1st and ended on March 5th. Super short!

The top 15 male and female players are scheduled to train in Peru to prepare for the 2011 season which includes the following important tournaments: FIVB World League, FIVB World Grand Prix, Pan American Games in Guadalajara, Mexico and the NORCECA Continental Tournaments.

Victoria Cuba!
