Mexico’s best player, Samamtna Bricio, is making a name for herself in her very first season as a professional player. The 22 year old led her club team, Imoco Volley Conegliano, to win the Italian Super Cup and she was named the Most Valuable Player.
In an article released by her club team, Sam shares that she made the right choice to play in one of the world’s best professional leagues. She also credits her team for their victory and for her individual award.
“E’ il giorno più bello della mia vita pallavolistica – ha detto Samantha ieri timidamente dopo la premiazione -, sono felicissima per aver vinto questa Supercoppa,lamia prima vittoria, di fronte al nostro pubblico con tutto il calore dei nostri tifosi qui nel “nostro” Palaverde. Adesso dobbiamo pero’ guardare avanti e non fermarci, dobbiamo e vogliamo vincere ancora!” Hai giocato una partita fantastica, sempre sopra al muro avversario e un’intesa con Kasia Skorupa (altra potenziale MVP della Supercoppa..) che sembra già a livello ottimale “Mi fa molto piacere ricevere questo premio, ma la pallavolo è uno sport di squadra e non avrei potuto fare niente senza l’aiuto delle mie compagne. Abbiamo giocato una grande partita, adesso su questa scia dobbiamo continuare e puntare ad altre vittorie. Qui sto benissimo e non potevo volere un posto migliore per iniziare la mia carriera da giocatrice professionista. Dedico la vittoria ai miei amici e alla mia famoglia che mi ha seguito dal Messico.”
“It’s the best day of my volleyball life. I am very happy to win the Super Cup in front of our fans but we must not stop now. As a team, we have to continue playing like this to reach more trophies. To be the MVP is an honor for me but volleyball is a team sport and I could not achieve this without the help of my teammates. We played a great game. I have made the best decision choosing this place to start my professional career. I dedicate this victory to my friends and family all the way in Mexico.”
