Motta to coach Darnel and Team!

Marco Motta from Brazil has been hired as the new coach of the Turkey’s women’s volleyball team. WoW! Exciting!

Motta is one of the most experienced coach out there. He coach Brazil from 2001-2003 and coach the Italian team in the mid 90s.

We really hope that Motta can develop new strong players for Turkey and avoid a one sided offense by relying heavily on Neslihan Darnel. Turkey has improved so much in the last 2 years and we really see them becoming a very strong team if Darnel has other players to support her when it comes to scoring.

Side Dish: As far as we know, Motta had a lot of issues with Brazilian players when he coached them. A lot of players from the 2000 Olympic Team like Coimbra, Fofao & Walewska did not like him and only returned when Guimaraes took over in 2004.   During Motta’s time, he brought a new generation of players like Paula, Sassa and Sheilla. The only veteran who stayed on the team was Virna Dias.

Anyways, good luck coach and we <3 Turkey!
