Sadly, the following players have been suspended by the FIVB since they got tested positive for dope. Athletes should always remember that the FIVB and the national federations are doing a great job of implementing the anti-doping campaign. Seriously, it’s very damaging to someone’s career.
Ladies and gentlemen, please welcome the amazing cast of “DOPEHEADS”:
Nicolas Marechal from France: According to volleyball.it, Nicolas is suspended for 3 months not because he got tested positive for dope but because he kept “forgetting” to get his 3 anti-doping tests done within the last 2 years. Dang bb! You sure you forgot? Well, enjoy the 3 months away from the court. (source: www.volleyball.it)
Don’t forget you’re suspended!
Ramon Burgos from Puerto Rico: His specimen contained 11-nor-9-carboxy-delta9-tetrahydrocannabinol (Cannabinoids) following the 2010 NORCECA U21 Continental Championships, was dealt a six month ban starting from 10.13.2010. (source: www.fivb.org)
All we can say is you’re too young to be go through something like this. Bad for your career. Well learning early is a good thing. Learn learn learn.
(NO PIC AVAILABLE FOR SO-JIN LEE since she’s not popular)
So-Jin Lee from Korea: She was tested during the 2010 Asian Women`s Cup in Indonesia has been banned for nine months from October 14 2010 following a positive result for the prohibited substance of Formoterol. Lee originally took the medication in order to treat her asthma and not being in possession of a Therapeutic Use Exemption (TUE) – which is required for Athletes with a medical condition wanting to treat this condition with prohibited substances – was duly banned due to the infraction. This could’ve been avoided if she checked with her doctor. Sad.
