China’s Excuse

It might seem like another excuse but this one is pretty legit!

Back in 2009, China played its worst performance in the FIVB World Grand Prix & finished a disappointing 5th place. The Chinese Federation even released this statement via China Daily:

The Chinese women’s volleyball team spend too much time surfing the internet, which directly contributed to their poor performance at the recent world grand prix in Japan, according to a senior official. China, whose women have won two Olympic and multiple world volleyball titles, finished fifth with a young team in Tokyo last week, matching their worst performance at the annual tournament. They spend too much time online after a match or training, are too self-centred and haven’t enough direct and close interaction,” Li Quanqiang, deputy director of China’s volleyball administration.

Fast forward to today…

China finished 5th again at the recently concluded Grand Prix.

The only match they won was against Cuba and lost to eventual champions USA, Brazil, Turkey and Thailand. Coach Yu Juemin finally talked to the media saying that his team lost pretty badly because they declined to consume any meat throughout the Final Round. His players did NOT have enough strength and energy to play well.

So why didn’t they eat MEAT?

Players feared on banned chemicals such as Clenbuterol found in meat. According to our source, “Clenbuterol is a fat-burning chemical that makes pork leaner but is carcinogenic in humans, has been at the center of some of China’s numerous food safety issues in recent years.” Our souce adds that the “The Communist Party-run Global Times newspaper on Tuesday said the issue “poses quite a problem” for all Chinese athletes, with the Olympic games set to begin at the end of July.”.

The excuse totally makes sense to us but FISH is also rich in protein so why they didn’t eat it instead of pork? Plus why would players of consuming pork if the general public eats it? What makes them different? Oh well, excuses, excuses and excuses. Hah!

Well China better eats lots of meat when they are in London for the Olympic Games because their Pool Play matches won’t be easy. They will play against USA, Brazil, Serbia, Korea and Turkey.

Thoughts?
