They did it again!
On behalf of volleyball fans from all over the world, we’d like to congratulate Margareta Kozuch and Georg Grozer for being named as Germany’s Top Female and Male Volleyball Players of 2011! Both players are currently playing in the Polish League.
Kozuch topped the voting with 31%, followed by Angelina Grun 27% then multi-awarded middle blocker Christiane Furst, setter Kathleen Weiss and outside hitter Maren Brinker taking the 3rd, 4th and 5th spots. On the men’s side, Andrae Bjorn was so closed from winning it with 28% of the vote. Taking 3rd is opposite hitter Jochen Schops, Lukas Kampa 4th and Stefan Hubner 5th.
Despite losing the race, Schops (who just won the Russian All Star Game with Team West) had something nice to say of his teammate “On the court, George loves tough situations and demands the ball. He doesn’t like losing games and can be a very emotional guy.”
While Maggie’s teammate, Imke Wedekind, said that “Maggi was always a very cheerful and open-minded girl. She’s a person who meets challenges head-on and refuses to give up until she has achieved what she wants. She’s a strong personality both on and off the court, and not only motivates herself, but also others around her.”
Great words for 2 of the world’s best players!
Congrats to the winners and to the nominees! We hope to see Germany at the 2012 Olympics!
