Eemi Tervaportti – the setter of Belgium’s champion Knack ROESELARE – was recently named Finland’s Best Volleyball Player for the 2012/2013 season by the Board of Administration of the Finnish Volleyball Association. Tervaportti had a memorable season in Belgium as Knack swept all domestic competitions this year and played in the prelims of the 2013 CEV Volleyball Champions League – Men.
Tervaportti is also the setter of Finland’s national team that is set to compete in the final round of the 2013 CEV Volleyball European Championship – Men later this year and is also about to start its campaign in the 2013 FIVB World League. Tervaportti – who has totaled 76 caps so far with the Finns – had spent a couple of years in France playing for AJACCIO before moving to Knack ROESELARE.
Other awards were presented to the best female and male player of the year, Riikka Lehtonen and Mikko Esko, who this past season played for Azerrail BAKU and Gubernia NIZHNI NOVGOROD in Azerbaijan and Russia respectively, to Pekka Piippo and Emilia Nyström (Beach Volleyball players of the year) while Olli Kunnari (VaLePa SASTAMALA) and Sherri Williams (LP KANGASALA) were chosen as the best players of Finland men’s and women’s national league respectively.
