The “hit and run” incident a few days ago was NOT the first time Earvin Ngapeth made headlines on and off the volleyball court. Since 2010, he has shocked the world with his actions like he was expelled from the team in 2010, got into a fight at a nightclub, left his Russian team abruptly and reportedly punched someone after an argument.
Earvin VS Coach Blain
In 2010, Earvin was expelled from the National Team by then head coach Philippe Blain because of disciplinary reasons. According to this article, Earvin, who was 19 years old at that time, got into an argument with someone in the locker room.
Rumor has it that Earvin did NOT like the fact he was benched at one of the crucial matches during the 2010 World Championship in Italy. Coach Blain preferred experience over skills and chose Stephane Antiga (who is now the head coach of Poland) and Nicolas Marshal as starters.
Earvin rejoined the National Team the following year.
The Club Fight In 2012
In August of 2012, Ngapeth got into a fight while at a club in Montpellier. In December 2014, he was sentenced to 3 months suspended imprisonment by the Criminal Court of Montpellier.
Goodbye Kemeorovo!
After only one month, Earvin left his Russian club team, Kemerovo, without explanation during the 2013-2014.
His father, Eric N’Gapeth, who was the coach at that time was in huge disbelief telling the press that “he and the club’s main sponsor are speechless” with Earvin’s abrupt change of heart.
Earvin eventually joined Modena in the Italian League.
Did He Really Punch Someone?
After the winning the 2015 FIVB World League, the MVP of the said tournament made headlines when he reportedly punched a train attendant after an argument. He was arrested and then released.
He has a court date in February 2016.
Hit And Run
Like what we’ve stated earlier in this post. He reportedly hit 3 people and left the scene. A few days later, he acknowledged his mistake and was suspended by his club team, Modena.
As of press time, no word yet on what his future with the team will be.
We only know that he has disappointed his team and supporters.
