After representing France in 200 international matches, Guillaume Samica retires.
The 30 year old outside hitter exclusively reveals to Volleywood these moments moments of his career:
On some of the most unforgettable matches throughout his career…
“Back in 2004 during the Intercontinental Round versus Poland in Spodek and we won the 2 matches. My first Olympic match in 2004 versus Serbia and finally during 2009 European Championship semifinal match versus Russia.”
This is the EPIC match vs Russia Samica is talking about…
On his decision…
“It was not easy decision but 10 years with the French national team is a long time. The last season has been a bit difficult for me to play for my club team and the national team. New players have joined the French squad who are good so it’s difficult for me to get time to play. Hahaha!”
Teammate Kevin Tillie has this special message for Guillaume:
“I wish him the best and I thank him for helping me for my first time with the National Team. Especially that I played volleyball watching him play so it was pretty cool for me.”
Side Dish: Samica will professionally play in Argentina this coming season.
On behalf of Volleywood and Samica’s fans, we wish you the BEST in your personal and professional Guillaume!
Your presence on the court will be missed but above all thank you so much for the volleyball memories you’ve brought to us over the last TEN years with Team France.
A la votre!
