We are a bit shocked but Elena knows her body and mind more than anyone else so we respect her decision.
About a week ago, the 19 year old quit from the Italian national team due to physical and mental fatigue. With this news, Elena will miss the upcoming European Championship which starts this coming Friday.
This year, the outside hitter competed in the Volley Masters Tournament, Volleyball Nations League and the recently concluded Tokyo Qualification Tournament.
There’s no word yet about her return but we look forward to seeing her once she’s well and fully rested.
