It would be nice to see Kurek playing for Poland again…
Coach Stephane Antiga has assured volleyball fans from all over the world that Bartosz Kurek is very much welcome to rejoin Poland. The French coach told polsatsport.pl that he has talked to Kurek, who is currently playing in the Italian League, and his return is very possible.
“I have talked to Bartosz about his return to the National Team. It is possible. He will probably be back to the team.
The door is open to anyone who wants to play for Poland.”
In case you didn’t know, Kurek was excluded from the Polish squad who competed and won the 2014 FIVB World Championship. There were rumors about his absence and one of those was due to conflict between Kurek and the newly appointed coach Antiga. Another story was that Kurek was not in great shape and his condition did not meet Antiga’s expectations.
Kurek Reacts And Responds
In an article released by przegladsportowy.pl, the 26 year old reveals his truth on playing for Poland again.
Q: Is there a chance for you to come back to the national team?
“I cannot tell you that because the idea for this season is up to the head coach but it’s always a pleasure to play for the NT. I don’t play in it for the coach or for the money. For me it’s a pleasure, honor, and that’s what really counts.
The call to play for the NT should not be based on the name, the past achievements or seniority. It’s based on someone’s current level of play and such basis can bring us good results. This was exactly the case at the World Championship for Poland.”
When asked if he really had a fight or an unresolved conflict with Coach Antiga, Kurek opted to answer it with “no comment”.
Hopefully, we get to see Bartosz in his Polish jersey.
The Olympics is already next year and we strongly feel that he still has what it takes to be on the squad.
Thoughts?
