2014 World Champion Michal Kubiak finally speaks about Cuban-turned-Polish Wilfredo Leon’s plan on playing for the National Team.
Kubiak tells sports.pl:
“I have heard that he feels like he is from Poland. If that is true then I have nothing against him playing for the national team.
I am open to that subject. Leon is a good guy and if he wants to help us then I am fine with that.
But, there are also some disadvantages. It might discourage young players when they see a foreign player taking their place. Those youngsters played for Poland in various tournaments, passing all levels in youth categories, but in the end they might think that they will not get a chance in the senior team because some world-class player received a Polish passport.
In conclusion, I believe that Leon is very serious about this matter, so from my side there is no problem.
He is absolutely right!
Do you agree with Michal or disagree?
