It just shows the kind of player he is.
After losing their last FIVB World Cup match to last night to Italy and failing to qualify for the 2016 Olympics, Polish outside hitter and team captain Michal Kubiak took the blame for the loss and shared these words at the post match conference:
“I will take the blame for this loss. When it was 23-20 in the first set I made a bad decision and after that we struggled.
Congratulations to Italy.
They played well and have qualified. We hope to qualify in another competition.”
Keep your head up BB!
Their head coach, Stephane Antiga, praised Italy as well as their 2 near-unstoppable spikers, Zaytsev and Juantorena:
“It was a very difficult match.
They played better. We had our chances in the first set and third sets. Italy was better than us today. This was a tough competition because only two teams can qualify for the Olympics. My team prepared well. We blocked badly tonight. They have two good spikers in Juantorena and Zaytsev and they are tough to stop.
This was a different team after the World Championships and presented a new challenge.”
Poland won the bronze but not enough to qualify for the Olympics in Rio.
This is such a heartbreaking moment for the reigning World Champions. They only lost 1 match just like USA and Italy but did not have enough points in the end.
What’s next for Poland?
The 2015 European Championship next month!
As for their Road To Rio, Poland has the European Olympic Qualification to keep their chances alive.
Never give up boys! Keep the Olympic dream alive!
WE STILL LOVE YOU! #MichalKubiak It's not over. #ROADTORIO2016 continues for Poland. #FIVBMWCup pic.twitter.com/jBWdLPSbwI
