One of the best & most complete Russian players we’ve seen in the last couple of years!
2011 World Cup and 2011 World League gold medalist, Taras Khtey, has been awarded as the Russia’s Best Athlete of 2011 by the “Golden Pedestal” event, a collaboration between TV channel Russia 2 and the Soviet Sport newspaper.
Sports fans all over Russia voted by going to the site www.sportbox.ru or via texting.
Taras won 50.1% of the votes against other athletes namely biathlete Olga Zaitseva, cross-country skier Alexei Petukhov, skeleton racer Olga Potylitsina and heavyweight boxer Alexander Povetkin.
We wonder if Maxim Mikhaylov was also nominated.
Anyways, on behalf of all volleyball fans from all over the world, we congratulate Taras for this prestigious honor!
