In an interview released by the FIVB, 2 time World Champion and 2 time Olympic silver medalist Lioubov Sokolova shares that she has a lot of fans from the Philippines although she’s NEVER been there.
How important was is it to play abroad in different countries? Where is your biggest fan base?
Sokolova: Experiencing the cultures and traditions of different countries, and the playing style in different countries, has been important. So has the approach to professionalism and the chance to study different languages. Apparently – I’ve never actually been there – I have a lot of fans in the Philippines. Maybe somehow I’ll be able to check this out some time.
Did she FORGET that she was in Manila, Philippines SEVENTEEN YEARS AGO? It was during the Final Round of the FIVB Grand Prix where she was named as the MVP despite not winning the title (Cuba won it)?
