Good for him.
Rsport.ru confirms the news that Russian volleyball player and 2016 Olympic hopeful Alexander Markin will NOT be suspended after testing positive of meldonium over a month ago. Markin has been notified by the FIVB that they have withdrawn the doping charges against him and will no longer take further actions.
Markin’s result showed that he only had 300 nanograms of meldonium in his system after getting tested during the 2016 European Olympic Qualification Tournament last January.
Last April 13th, an article was released stating that “athletes who tested positive for meldonium may be able to avoid sanctions because of a lack of scientific evidence on how long the recently banned drug stays in the system.”
In case you missed it, French players like Antonin Rouzier is NOT a happy camper on how the FIVB has handled Markin’s case.
