We are too!
We’re very proud of Marcus “Nils” Nilsson aka the first Swedish player to have ever won the CEV Champions League and the Most Valuable Player Award!
As soon as his countrymen learned of his achievements last Sunday, volleyball fever started to spread all over Sweden.
Saffet Eraybar, the President of the Swedish Volleyball Federation, says:
“He’s an amazing player and we are all extremely proud of him. We all look forward to seeing him in action in May as we play host to the first round of the 2014 FIVB World Championship here in Sweden.”
The 30 year old left handed opposite player can’t obviously hide his happiness.
“This is a dream that comes true. I still can’t believe that I have won the Champions League and was also voted MVP. The final match was a fantastic game with our fans cheering on us all the way through. Once the Russian Superleague comes to an end, I will go back to Sweden and get ready for the World Championship qualifier taking place in my hometown, Halmstad. It’s going to be very special to represent Sweden’s national team there.”
Also, the employees of the Swedish Federation prepared a special cake to additionally celebrate the accomplishments of their countryman.
Awwwww how sweet!
We hope to see more of Marcus and his Swedish teammates at the 2014 World Championship. It won’t be an easy task facing Greece, Norway and Iceland this coming May.
Of course, we wish Nils and his Lokomotiv the best in the Russian League! Winning the Champions League gives the team momentum and of course the pressure to win the league.
Watch out Zenit Kazan!
