This is A MAJOR NEWS HEADLINE in Peru!
So here’s what happened:
It all happened during a match in the Peruvian League between Coach Malaga’s Cesar Vallejo University vs Regatas Lima. Malaga’s team could not stop a spiker in Regatas named Angelica Aquino who is from Huánuco , a city in central Peru. Aquino, who played at the 2010 World Championship, is short but a very good player.
The racist remark was caught on video when Malaga called a time out. She then told her players “La llama pega todo diagonal (the Llama only spikes diagonal)!”.

Words like “Llama, Chola and Auquenido (animal)” are mainly considered racist terms.
Later on, Aquino stated that she gets called Llama by her close friends and it doesn’t bother her but what bothers her is that Malaga said it on national TV.
The Peruvian Volleyball Federation stated that the case is now in the Justice Comittee and that Malaga will be punished.
