In an August interview released by redlandsdailyfacts.com, American player Krista Vansant shared her honest thoughts on the level of the women’s A1 domestic league in Switzerland.
“The level of competition in the Swiss league was a lot worse than Division I. My team was a lot better than all of the other teams that play in the Swiss league. But we also played in the Champions League, with all the best teams in Europe, and that’s a little bit better than NCAA volleyball. There are a few teams that aren’t as good, but the top, top teams are pretty darned good.”
Vansant played for the league’s top team, Volero Zurich last season right after she finished her NCAA career in 2015 with the Washington Huskies.
During the 2015/2016 season, Kirsta and Team won the Swiss League and made it to the quarterfinal round of the prestigious CEV Champions League.
