A new Olympic cycle officially starts this 2017 season so therefore expect lots of new faces representing your favorite teams.
After a disastrous Rio Olympics, Coach ZRG has summoned 6 names to start training with the national team and they are:
Leia (Libero)
It looks the 2016 Olympian may be Brazil’s main libero. With Fabi no longer part of the national team and Camila Brait pregnant, it looks like Leia may be the ONLY qualified libero Coach ZRG can rely on.
Adenizia (Middle Blocker)
Adenizia had a great season in the Italian League and she made a name for herself as one of the league’s BEST blockers. With Fabiana’s retirement and Thaisa facing several injuries, we believe this new Olympic cycle is Ade’s time to shine.
Naiane (Setter)
Coach ZRG has what it takes to make Naiane a world class setter.
Rosamaria (Outside Hitter)
She is a strong spiker and her presence on the court reminds us of Natalia Pereira. Let’s see if Coach ZRG can morph her to be a more reliable outside hitter and a better receiver.
Mara (Middle Blocker)
One of the top blockers in the Brazilian League this season. A player to keep an eye on!
Suelen (Libero)
She has been on Coach ZRG’s preliminary rosters for a few years but Suelen was never really given a chance to shine as bright as the other national team liberos. She played in Italy this season so let’s see if her experience in one of the top leagues would help her get that starting position.
More names will be called in a few weeks so stay tuned.
Brazil will compete in several tourneys this year like the Montreux Volley Masters in Switzerland this June, the FIVB Grand Prix and the World Grand Champions Cup in Japan later this year.
