You go girl!
Despite missing the 2011 Grand Prix, Brazilian outside hitter, Jaqueline Carvalho, kept herself busy this past weekend by competing at the 2011 South American Club Championship held in Lima Peru. Jaque led her team to win the gold against club teams from South America.
This victory gives Sollys Osasco a spot at the 2011 World Club Championship to be held in Doha, Qatar from October 8th – 14th, 2011. Other teams qualified for the tournament are Vakifbank Günes S TTelekom (TUR), Kenya Prisons (KEN) and Criollas de Caguas (PUR), Rabita Baku (AZE) and Chang (THA).
Jaque was awarded with the MVP award while the rest of her teammates Camila Brait won the Best Libero, Silvana as the “Best Passer”, Karine “Best Setter”, Larissa “Best Blcokier and Ivna won the Best Spiker award.

For you information, Unilever won the 2010/2011 edition of the Superliga but the team had to withdraw from the tournament because most of its players are currently with the National Team for the Grand Prix and were obviously not available to compete at this tournament.
Therefore, the Superliga runner-up Osasco got the spot instead and will now head to the World Club Champs for the second year in a row after finishing with a silver medal last year.

Side Dish: According to a source, Thaisa, Adenizia and Destinee Hooker (who are currently traveling with their respective National Teams for the Grand Prix) will rejoin the team for the prestigious tournament. Exciting!
Side Dish #2: Murilo (MVP) led his Brazilian club team Sesi Cimed to win the men’s tournament and will also compete at the 2011 World Club Championship to represent South America.
