Rumor has it that 2 time Olympic Champions Sheilla Castro, Jaqueline Carvalho and Fabiana Claudino will NOT play for Brazil this season and will take some time off from international volleyball.
“These 3 players have spent the last 4 years or so playing for Brazil and they have attained major success, ie 2 Olympic golds. Now they want to focus on their personal lives as well as get some rest due to the extremely long and physically demanding schedule in the Brazilian League.” says our source.
Sheilla has always been the starting opposite for Brazil and she’s the one who needs that BREAK out of the 3.
“Sheilla really wants to spend more time with her Grandma who has a medical problem. She also wants to start planning for her future with her boyfriend. As we all know, Jaque has always been wanting to start a family. She and Murilo want to give it another shot after losing the baby last year. As for Fabiana, she has a boyfriend now and the relationship is serious and can possibly lead to marriage.” adds the source.
It’s great to know that these world class players are starting to focus on their personal lives and start planning the future.
So who will play for the Brazilian squad this year?
Coach Ze Roberto has NOT revealed anything yet but we’d most likely see a group of players from the 2012 Olympic squad like Fe Garay, Thaisa, Adenizia, Tandara, Natalia, Dani Lins, maybe Fabi. Some young players like Camila Brait, Gabi, Juciely, Priscilla Daroit & Bia will most likely get the call to join the team.
It also looks like Paula and Mari are out of the team for good but we never know.
Brazil is scheduled to compete at the 2013 Volley Masters, 2013 Grand Prix and 2013 South American Championship.
We hope to see Sheilla, Jaque and Fabiana at the 2016 Olympics in Brazil!
