Fenerbahce coach Ze Roberto: “It was not an easy game for me because we were playing a Brazilian side and I have been coaching some of these girls only one month ago when we played at the World Championships in Japan. But this is part of my job and I still have to learn more and more in terms of emotions and human relations. I think they played better than they did in the prelims, the sets were very close and I can only thank my players for their wonderful performance as well as the organisers of this tournament.”

Fenerbahce captain Cigdem Rasna: “It was not an easy victory; although the final score was 3-0, we had to work hard in every single set. I am more than happy with this victory because this is the first international success for Turkish Volleyball and we’ve started with the Club World Championships – this is great! It’ll give us the necessary confidence for the long season we still have ahead of us, with the CEV Champions League, the Turkish Cup and the national league. I am very proud to be the captain of such a great team and if I had to pick out the most outstanding player of this tournament, I would go for Liubov Sokolova.”

Sollys Osasco captain Carolina Albuquerque: “The result is fair, Fenerbahce deserved to win and we made too many mistakes. Because we were close in the score, through these errors they widened the gap that we were just about to narrow.”

Side Dish: Italy’s BERGAMO won the BRONZE medal after beating Mirador from the Dominican Republic.
